Hi everyone, we’ve all been working together to make the 5 Year Anniversary something really really special! Chris Mags and Dylan Mount have been writing up some awesome blog posts on here, to give everyone some cool insider info about what to expect this month!!! So go give them some feedback on their facebook (linked above)!
Every week we’ve been meeting with the staff at Kelly’s Mission Rock to help work out the kinks, for the most part things have been going great, and we do know there have been some issues with the security staff being jerks. First and foremost, we need everyone to be nice and courteous to each other and to the staff, please please please understand that… also expect to be treated with courtesy and respect in return, I can assure you we’ve gone above and beyond to correct this problem.
Please email me personally here: JefferyParadise [at] gmail [dot] com if you have any questions, comments, complaints, ideas, etc about how we can make this work better for our friends! I, along with everyone on the Blow Up + Kelly’s staff are committed to making this work so that everyone can be safe and have fun!
This Saturday, expect to be greeted at the door by Ava Berlin, Sunny and Kelli, plus all of our wonderful pals on the Host Committee (full post on the Host Committee coming soon).
Miss Monistat will be presiding as the Master of Ceremonies for the evening! along with all the DJs, Photographers and Videographers mentioned in other posts!
We’re all gunna celebrate in style together and have some serious fun!!!!
See you on the dancefloor,
Jeffrey Paradise

We are very excited to have San Francisco up and comers Pance Party at The BLOW UP 5 Year Anniversary! Expect big things from them in the coming months as their new EP drops! Our “correspondent” Dylan Mount caught up with them over email to find out the details about what’s going on with them and their music – check it out!
BLOW UP: What was it like working with Benny Benassi?
Swardy: When we released our first EP, “Kim Jong Thrill”, we considered it a complete and total success after all four tracks charted so well. Benassi picking up on it and subsequently asking for a remix was some serious icing… I mean, the guy practically invented electro.
Andy: This may sound strange, but the most surprising thing about the whole project was how down to earth and professional Benny & Co. were. The world needs more Benny Benassis.
Benny Benassi – Spaceship (Pance Party remix) by Pance Party
BLOW UP: If you could change one thing about the current scene, what would it be and why?
A: Siriusmo needs to perform live!
S: Dance music is melodies, harmonies, and basslines. Some of this Dutch Squeaker shit leaves me wanting…
B: What are some of your biggest influences?
A: Pance Party started as a Nickelback cover band…. so…. yeah.
S: Seriously, though: Dada Life, Wolfgang Gartner, Felix Cartal, and DIM.
B: What’s the largest audience you’ve performed for and how was it?
S: That would have to be the Yale — Harvard Ball: A thousand plus undergrads in the Yale commons (which looks exactly like the Harry Potter Dining Hall, only bigger and more ridiculous). We wrote this track the morning of, with samples calling out each school back and forth (and inadvertently setting them against each other). Was definitely the closest we’ve come to inciting a riot.

B: What are some things you do to prepare yourselves before going on stage?
S: Pilsner [beer]… BUT, also get to the show early. If you look closely you’ll find us in the muck gettin down with the opener. Best way to make sure you know what a crowd likes is to bump uglies with ‘em.
A: Seagram’s gin and diet Rockstar…

B: What is the biggest motivating factor for creating your music?
S: Watching other DJs spin your tracks. Its easy to get psyched about blog hype, or Beatport charts — but nothing really shakes my shalayleigh like seeing someone you idolize play your tunes.
A: Because this is how we’re all going to get filthy rich, right? Oh, and this:
B: What do you like most about your job?
A: Being your own boss and getting to do everything for the band, from art to tech stuff I can’t think of anything I’d rather do.
S: Travel! The day we started getting booked outside the US was the day these outrageous studio hours became worthwhile.
Also, forgot to mention:
Pance Party is three people: Eric, Andy, and Swardy. Sadly Eric wasn’t around to finish up the email with us, so we’ve sent the completed interview without him.
Pance Party play with Skeet Skeet and others at BLOW UP’s 5 year anniversary party Saturday July 10th – Event Invite Here and big thanks to Dylan Mount for such a cool interview.
See you on the dancefloor
4 Year Party Video
3 Year Party Video
2 Year Party Video
There’s no video from the 1st Year party (sadly)… the videos demonstrate we all go very very large for BLOW UP anniversaries! I’m personally so fucking exxxcited about this year!!! 5 Years of new music, new friends, new experiences, and all kinds of trouble we’ve gotten into together!!!
So, please, don’t come out unless you are ready to join the party with us and go BIG BIG BIG!!! no holding back!!! let’s show DJ Skeet Skeet how we like to party!
+ there will be some mad famous photographers and videographers on hand to capture all the magic and we’ll all get to show our friends in other citys how much we rule and they suck [hehe]
- in all seriousness, I’m so excited and feel so lucky to have been a part of something so fun for such a long time, I have hardly done anything for 5 years… wtf, so the fact that Blow Up has been in the club for 5 year (not to mention all the undergrounds before it officially launched).
LET’S FUCKING PARTY TOGETHER!!!

This is exactly what we’ve been needing to kick off this Summer off right: a dj set by Wallpaper’s frontman, Ricky Reed! Straight out of North Oakland California, he’s doing it real big, with funky beats and synthed out vocals that no one can resist getting down to. Their sound is likened to the musical stylings of Hey Champ!, Chromeo, and even hints of Justice, but don’t let that fool you. Wallpaper’s sounds are fresher than produce. With hits like “T-REX” and “I Got Soul, I’m So Wasted”, I’m sure we’ll be hearing many, many great things from them this Summer and beyond!
Wallpaper has been pushing out beats since 2005, when existentialist, Eric Frederic, was only utilizing the band as a way to satarize mainstream pop and consumer culture, but luckily for us, he ended up embracing the project and now has 3 Eps, remixes for Passion Pit and Das Racist, a full length album Doodoo Face and some epic live performances under his belt, Wallpaper’s really starting to make a name for itself.

Some of their diverse influences include: Afrobeat, P-Funk, and the panoply of Bay Area rap. These influences become most noticeable in the heavy bass breakdowns of “Celebrity”, and in the minimalist pop of “Fine GF.” and are always featured in his DJ sets.

Wallpaper’s musical styling leaves much up to perception of the listener (dancer). It’s really up to you to decide what to make of it, but with their high voltage guitar rifts, blissed out melodic auto-tuned vocals, and heavy booty shakin’ basslines it’s safe to say we’ll all be dancing and singing the night away.

Speaking for myself, I’m absolutely sold on Wallpaper, and can’t wait to see what this electro-funk master has in store for us behind the turntables. Needless to say, I am so, so excited for the long awaited revival of Blow Up! With all the beautiful faces and fresh beats, this Summer is gonna kick so much ass! Let’s Dance!
Yay Yay,
Dylan

Alongside Le Castle Vania and the many other artists performing on June 12th is Finland’s Rico Tubbs! For the uninitiated Rico is a rising star!!! Voted the best electronic music dj and producer in Finland back to back in 2006 and 2007 he has been on a terror ever since… so we know the bartenders won’t be the only ones mixing something special for us… Rico is gunna mix up something fierce and get us all completely fucked up!
Rico will serve us a special serving of his now famous “Ricos Rave Juice.” ingredients include uk garage bass-lines, hip hop samples, cracking snares, baltimore breaks, fidget house, indie dance/electro, & dubstep… I hope my heart can take it!
Rico’s famous for his heavy tracks (mainly the killer tune ‘gangsters’) and received huge support from all the major players in bass-heavy music and beyond like switch, sinden, drop the lime, and crookers.

Coming all the way from Finland to get a little taste of Blow Up SF… let’s show Rico Tubbs how we get down in San Francisco!!!
Since the BLOW UP reunion, we’ve been on a journey exploring new territory for the party. With have a new venue, a few things have changed, in fact, some things just may have gotten better… and the idea and the attitude is still the same: FUN!
So let’s start the summer right together!!!
Check out and download Rico Tubb’s mixtapes here
