The Rapture is an American rock band originally formed in beautiful city of San Francisco (now in New York). The band effectively combines elements of post-punk, dance music, acid house, disco, electonica, and so on. The Rapture has similarities to the Cure and draws inspiration from many different genres.

The rapture was formed in 1998 by the band’s drummer, Vito Roccoforte and by the guitarist/vocalist, Luke Jenner. The band later relocated to Seattle then on to New York.
The band toured extensively and in 2001 released their six-song EP Out of the Races and Onto the Tracks on Sub Pop Records. The Rapture acted as forerunners of the post-punk revival that was taking place during the early 2000s. In 2002, multi-instumentalist, Gabriel Andruzzi, joined the band. The Rapture released their first full-length record, entitled Echoes, in 2003.

In January 2004, the Rapture coensided with Funeral for a Friend on the NME Awards Tour, alongside other big name artists, including Franz Ferdinand and The Von Bondies. Later that year, the Rapture toured alongside The Cure, Interpol, Scarling, Mogwai, as part of the Curiosa Festival.
In September 2006, the Rapture announced the release of their second full-length album, Pieces Of The People We Love, which was released on Universal Motown Records. Paul Epworth, Ewan Pearson, and Dangermouse produced the album.
